Tips and hints for a smooth sitter handover
How to get the most from your handover and sit
You will have completed a detailed information form as part of your booking process but there also are a few things that can help with a smooth handover.
If you have any additional information about your pets, their routines and your home please write as much down as possible. On the day of the sit when you are getting ready for your holiday things may get forgotten or overlooked so please leave clear instructions for anything you think might help. You know your pet and home better than anyone else so try and think ‘what would a new person in the house need to know’.
If your dogs haven’t met Gus before we will arrange a short meet up away from your property to ensure initial meetings of dogs are on neutral ground. We request this unless you advise otherwise.
Check you have left enough food for all your pets for the duration of your holiday. If you need us to buy more food we can do this but we may need to ask for fuel costs to be covered.
If we are staying for more than a few days its good to have some space in the room we are sleeping in for hanging or putting away clothes. It doesn’t need to be much but it means we don’t have to live out of our bags.
Be clear with us about what you would want doing with any left over food in your fridge and if you can create a little space for our food that’s helpful too.
Please make sure where know where your cleaning products are and if your dog or cat is prone to ‘accidents’ around the home let us know what products you would like us to use.
Let us know if your dog is prone to chewing etc so that I don’t lose another pair of brand new walking sandals to a pup who is missing its owner.
We always clean the spaces we have used during our stay but please also check you have emptied your bins and bathrooms and kitchens are ready for us to use.
The handover is often a fairly short period while you are getting ready to leave for your trip but please use our contact details for anything you remember as you head to the airport or similar to let us know of anything you have forgotten.
